Dressed to the nines …  nine lives that is

Several cats from Clarion PAWS in Shippenville donned their costumes in anticipation of a cat adoption event.

Roger

Roger is available for adoption through Clarion PAWS in Shippenville.

Heavenly Strays Rescue Group will host the Pumpkin Patch event from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the SNYP Building, 720 Atlantic Ave. in Franklin.

Three area rescues will be participating in the event. They include Clarion PAWS in Shippenville, Grove City Area Pet Rescue in Grove City and Precious Paws Animal Rescue and the SNYP clinic in Franklin.

There will be three large arenas with cats and kittens who are looking for “furever” homes.

There will be toys, games and Halloween decorations for a day of kitty bowl fun and excitement, according to organizers.

Every cat will be 100 percent vetted before adoption. Applications will be available at the event or online through the individual rescues.

Sky

Sky is available for adoption through Clarion PAWS in Shippenville.

Donations will be accepted for each of the rescues, which also will have items available for sale during the event.

Meanwhile, a few lucky kitties featured in the event’s photo contests have already found homes.

But rest assured there are plenty of loving cats and kittens still needing homes.

Organizers said that while the event is aimed at potential adopters, folks may attend to support area rescues and enjoy the antics of some playful felines.

They added that the cats also enjoy the attention.

More information is available on the Heavenly Strays Facebook page.

Hope

Meanwhile, the shelter has Hope available for adoption.

Hope, a shepherd-pit bull-terrier mix, is a year-old spayed female. She has a brindle coat with a black mask and white on her chest and the tips of her paws.

“Her previous owner tells us that Hope is shy with some people at first, then she’s a love bug, full of hugs and kisses,” the shelter said in a PetFinder listing.

“She is food aggressive with other dogs and doesn’t get along with cats. Hope will need daily mental and physical challenges. She’ll enjoy a good exercise session as well as a learning session,” the listing said.

The shelter’s hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
It is closed Sundays and holidays.

The Venango County Humane Society is located at 286 S. Main St., Seneca. More information on the Venango County Humane Society is available by calling (814) 677-4040.

Busy… but it’s a good busy

Precious Paws Animal rescue has had a very busy October. The rescue posted a rundown of things on its Facebook page.

1) The Subaru Shares The Love event continues. You can go in every day through Tuesday, Oct. 31, and spin the prize wheel by bringing in a donation to Precious Paws. People’s generosity has raised over $3,300 so far and the rescue has set a goal of $5,000.
“Please stop in next week each day and spin the wheel. A single roll of paper towels from the dollar store can win us up to $200 a spin!! We are so appreciative of your support,” the rescue posted.

2) The Pumpkin Patch Kitten Adoption Event will be held Saturday. The kittens from three local rescues will be in large open areas so you can meet them and pick out a new kitty for your family.

“We have some awesome furbabies that need good homes. Our adoption fee for this event is $25. You need to fill out the application on our website www.pparfranklin.com,” the rescue posted.

“We do require a positive pet ownership history, that all pets in your home be vaccinated and altered, and a home visit. Our kittens are growing up and they really need homes of their own,” the post continued.

The rescue’s adoptable animals are fixed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and tested negative for Feline Leukemia.

3) A Doggy Howl-o-ween Party will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, also at the SNYP building. DJ Posey will be playing music. There will be games — musical chairs and other fun activities for dogs and their people. PPAR volunteers will provide the snacks and there will be prizes for best costumes and the games.

“We will have some of our adoptable dogs here, as well, so figure out a creative costume and come join in the fun,” the rescue posted.

More information is available by contacting the rescue at 671-9827.
