Members of the Oil City YMCA Adventure Club found out that it is better to give than to receive on Monday night.
A $1,000 donation was given to the Adventure Club so they could pay it forward. The members, youth varying in age from 12 to 18, used this money to shop and purchase gifts that will be given to 24 local children on Christmas morning.
The Salvation Army received the gifts and will see that local children in need will receive them.
Those participating in the activity included Dominick Geist, Nick Richar, Jen Kissell-Dudek, Sarah Fisher, Sydney Svolos, Emily Coxson, Madyson Kissell and Samantha Foulk.
Adventure Club is operated by the Oil City YMCA through a grant from the Samuel E. Justus Charitable Trust. Club Members participate in service projects in the community and are rewarded with adventure trips throughout the year.
Jen Kissell-Dudek oversees the program.
Members of the club have the opportunity to experience adventures like zip lining, hiking trips, kayaking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, paintball and more. Adventure Club meets at the YMCA the first Wednesday of each month to plan monthly activities.
