About 2,300 cans of water arrive for Reno firefighters

A pallet containing 2,352 cans of water was delivered Monday for the Reno Volunteer Fire Department.

The water is being stored at the Klapec Trucking Co. warehouse between Kwik Fill and A. Crivelli on Allegheny Boulevard.

Reno fire chief Dan Marvin said the fire department applied for a non-financial grant in March.

The water was received through Anheuser-Busch in conjunction with the National Volunteer Fire Council.

The fire department has 24-hour access to the water.

The water will be used as an emergency drinking water supply for wildland firefighters.

“We were looking at any grant we could use to help us (while on the scene of a fire),” Marvin said. “We know the importance of staying hydrated as far as being a firefighter.”
