Eli Moser (left), who plays Ralphie Parker; Tyler Hare, who portrays Jean Shepard, and Truman Littler, who plays The Old man, rehearse a scene from “A Christmas Story — The Musical,” which will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17-18, in the Oil City High School auditorium.
Tickets are $5 general admission and may be purchased at the door, or in the middle and high school offices the week before the production.
About the show: The show is based on the 1983 movie starring Peter Billingsley, as well as other stories from the Jean Shepard book, “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash.” The musical version features a script by Joseph Robinette, and music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Narrated by author Jean Shepard (Tyler Hare), A Christmas Story takes place in the 1940s in the small town of Hohman, Indiana and focuses on Ralphie Parker (Eli Moser), and his pursuit of a special and unique Christmas present. The show begins with the Parker family “Counting Down to Christmas” and preparing for the annual trip to Higbee’s Department store to see this year’s newest toys.
