VNA of Venango County to hold ‘Hope for the Holidays’

From staff reports

The Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County will offer “Hope for the Holidays,” a day of healing intended to help grieving children during the holidays.

This event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Victory Heights United Brethren Church, 5978 Route 322, Franklin. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

“Hope for the Holidays” will provide a therapeutic, fun setting where children can talk openly and share their feelings with others who have had similar experiences. They also will benefit from guidance and support from trained bereavement volunteers.

Each attendee will be assigned to a small group of a similar age, along with adult volunteer counselors.

Activities will focus on ways to cope with the upcoming holidays with workshops on grief and holiday crafts. The day will conclude with a holiday meal.

“Hope for the Holidays” is geared for ages 6 to 17.
