A student at the VisionQuest facility on Hudmont Lane in Sandycreek Township is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a staff member Thursday.

A complaint filed through district judge Matthew Kirtland’s office said Franklin state police responded to VisionQuest Thursday for a report of a staff member who was assaulted by Nasir Dover, 18, of Philadelphia, a student who had been court ordered to be at the facility.

Police spoke with the staff member and observed visible injuries to his face and head, the complaint said.

The man said an altercation had occurred due to Dover asking where his clothing was while he was in the GED classroom of the facility, the complaint said.

The staff member said that as he tried to remove Dover from the room, Dover struck him numerous times in the face and kneed him in the groin area of his body, the complaint said.

The man required medical treatment and was taken to UPMC Northwest for evaluation of his injuries, the complaint said.

Dover told police he had tried to ask a question about his clothing and acknowledged the altercation had occurred, although he didn’t know how many times he struck the man, the complaint said.

Dover is facing a felony count of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary count of harassment.

He was arraigned before Kirtland and placed in the Venango County jail on $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday in Central Court.
