Venango Youth Choir to begin rehearsals

The Venango Youth Choir will begin rehearsals for the spring semester Monday.

The choir is open to all area students in Grades 1-8.

The youth choir is free. It meets from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Mondays at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 800 Moran St., Oil City. Snacks are provided from 3:45 to 4 p.m.

This semester, youths will be preparing for a short musical play titled “100 percent Chance of Rain.” It’s the story of Noah’s ark and will be performed Saturday, March 10.

The choir is divided into two sections. The Apprentice Choir consists of students in Grades 1 and 2. They learn the basics of singing, acting and instrument playing.

The Concert Choir learns how to play recorder, more musical note reading, part singing and acting technique.

The choir is directed by Beth Orris, Linda Vogt, Julie Kosker and Pastor Mike Parsh.
