Venango jail warden retiring

From staff reports

Venango County jail warden Kelly McKenzie is retiring in February.

McKenzie was appointed warden in December 2019 when the previous warden, Jeffrey Ruditus, retired. He took up his new duties in February 2020.

McKenzie has been employed at the jail for about 30 years, and he had held the position of chief deputy warden before becoming warden.

“I’m sorry to see him go. He had a long, illustrious career and served the county very well,” said Sam Breene, chairman of the county commissioners.

Breene added that the county is looking for a new warden and that the position has been widely advertised.

“We’ll see what applications we get and go from there,” Breene said.
