Venango DAR chapter honors good citizens

The Venango chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented local high school seniors with the National DAR Good Citizen Award based on essays they wrote. Pictured during a dinner event at Dawndi’s Restaurant are (from left) Joanne Scrip, DAR vice regent and award chairperson; Abigayle Williams, Rocky Grove High School; Emily Bly, Oil City High School; Hannah Niederriter, Cranberry High School; Gabrielle Miller, Venango Catholic High School; and Lori Daugherty-Switzer, DAR regent. Absent from the photo was Noah Taylor from Franklin High School. The honorees were selected by their schools and exhibit the characteristics of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Niederriter placed fourth in the state essay competition, and she read her essay to the chapter members at the dinner. She will receive her national award in Washington, D.C. in June.
