Venango Co. roadway projects to begin this week

Two projects that will improve travel on more than seven miles of roads in Venango County is scheduled to get underway this week.

The projects will give motorists a smoother ride on 5.6 miles of Route 27 in Pleasantville Borough and Oil Creek Township from the Warren/Venango County line to the Crawford/Venango County line; and on 1.7 miles of Route 3021 (Bully Hill Road/Liberty Street) from Belmar Road in Sandycreek Township to Route 322 (Eighth Street) in Franklin.

Work will include milling and resurfacing, along with paved road shoulders and updated drainage, curbs and curb ramps, guiderail and pavement markings.

This project is being made possible by Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation funding plan.

The contractor is IA Construction Corp. of Franklin. The construction cost is $2,260,698.77, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.

Work is expected to begin on Wednesday, weather permitting, on the Bully Hill Road/Liberty Street portion of the project.

Work on the entire project is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 27.

No detours are anticipated, but motorists will encounter traffic lane restrictions controlled by flaggers.
