Venango, Clarion counties report new virus cases

The state Department of Health on Sunday announced Venango County reported nine new cases of COVID-19 (seven confirmed and two probable) and Clarion County reported eight new cases (six confirmed and two probable) over the weekend.

Venango County, the state said, reported six new cases on Sunday (five confirmed and one probable) and three additional cases on Saturday (two confirmed and one probable). The county now has 122 total cases (92 confirmed and 30 probable).

Clarion County, the state said, reported four new cases on Sunday (two confirmed and two probable) and four additional confirmed cases on Saturday. The county now has 162 total cases (126 confirmed and 36 probable)

Forest County, the state said, held at 15 total cases (12 confirmed and three probable) over the weekend.

Crawford County, the state said, reported three new confirmed cases on Sunday and six new cases on Saturday (four confirmed and two probable). The county now has 345 total cases (279 confirmed and 66 probable).

Mercer County, the state said, reported five new cases on Sunday (four confirmed and one probable) and 20 new cases on Saturday (18 confirmed and two probable), giving the county 827 total cases (738 confirmed and 89 probable).

The state on Sunday reported 1,166 new statewide positive cases, 576 fewer than the number reported Saturday, raising the total number of cases to 172,216 (166,081 confirmed and 6,135 probable).

The number of new positive cases reported Sunday marks six consecutive days in which more than 1,000 additional cases were reported.

Fewer than 1,000 new cases have been reported in 137 of the past 161 days.

Statewide there were six new deaths reported Sunday and 36 new deaths reported Saturday, raising the total to 8,350, the state said.

Recovery rate and testing

– The state continues to report a recovery rate of 81%.

– The number of people in the tri-county area who have tested negative for the virus, the state said, is 9,458. Statewide, there have been 2,033,645 people who have tested negative.
