Venango Aging Department providing services

The Venango County Department of Aging is continuing to provide needed services during the coronavirus pandemic.

“People are still receiving services,” said Michelle Tarr, the older adult services director.

The Department of Aging is now delivering meals to Franklin Meals on Wheel recipients, Tarr said.

Seniors who congregated in area senior centers were also offered meal delivery, and several are now receiving home delivered meals, Tarr said.

“We don’t want anyone to be going hungry,” she said.

Caseworkers are now calling their clients and doing welfare checks often, Tarr said. She added that their clients were told to call if they needed anything.

Medications and groceries have been delivered to several older residents through the Department of Aging or referrals to other local agencies, Tarr said.

The staff at the county Older Adult Services is working remotely, Tarr said.
