From staff reports
Adam Peterson of Franklin said he was heading home Wednesday from a Scout meeting in Cochranton when the horn of his Chevy 3/4 ton pick-up started going off and his dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.
Then, a little while later, he said flames shot up out of the hood as he pulled over to the side of Route 322 in Canal Township and got out of the truck with his two friends. Then it was a ball of fire.
The fire was put out about a minute after Utica volunteer firefighters arrived just after 6 p.m. No injuries were reported. The truck was heavily damaged, but Peterson was already being asked if he’d sell parts of the truck that appeared undamaged.
Utica’s rescue crew also responded and state police were called.
