United Way raises $17,500 at annual big basket bingo

The United Way of Venango County raised $17,500 at its annual big basket bingo at the Rocky Grove fire hall.

United Way executive director Will Price said more money was raised this year than in 2017, and all the funds will go toward health, education and income programming in Venango County.

A total of 286 people attended compared to 225 last year, Price said.

Major special prize winners were Morgan Shaw, Tracey Hutchinson, Brad Stromer and Alisha Daman.

Gift basket winners included George Ann Marly, Celene Watson, Bill Nicklen, Shirley Evans, Marg Brink, Beverly Lawton, Diana Jackson, Nicole Snyder, Lynn Muschick, Jackie Wilson, JoAnn Toombs, April Shouey, Lisa Detar, Tammy Shreffler and Bonnie Reynolds.

Community programs that will benefit from the funds include Family Service and Children’s Aid Society, Northwest Foundation, Venango County Association for the Blind, Oil City YWCA, Venango Area Riding for the Handicapped Association, Oil City Salvation Army, Sugar Valley Lodge, Oil City YMCA, Community Services of Venango County, Venango Training and Development Center, Franklin Salvation Army, PPC Violence Free Network, Youth Alternatives, Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania and Junior Achievements of NWPA.
