Titusville United Way meets goal

From staff reports

The United Way of the Titusville Region has surpassed its goal of $175,000 in its annual fundraising campaign.

Campaign chairman Dr. Michael Dvorkin noted $175,340 was raised through pledges and donations.

Money raised through the 75th diamond jubilee “It’s A Wonderful LifeWith United Way” campaign will help fund a multitude of programs that other agencies and groups use to better the community, said Terri Ann Wig, chief professional officer for the local United Way office.

Funds from the campaign and other outside sources support programs provided by Associated Charities, Youth Connection, Scout troops and packs, Center for Financial Independence, Family Service and Children’s Aid Society, Hospice, Salvation Army, Titusville Regional Literacy Council, Titusville Health and Aging Center, YMCA, YWCA, Community Health Services Medical Transportation and programs and projects of the United Way including Pre-K Scholarships, THS Student United Way projects, American Legion and Moose Club community support partnerships, 2-1-1 information and referral launch in Crawford County, and Community Wide Human Service Needs Assessment.

Dvorkin said he credits the Titusville community for its generosity in participating in the annual fundraiser.

“Despite the difficult economic times, I am truly amazed at the level of giving that has been demonstrated in this year’s campaign,” he said.
