Tech center students help at cemetery

Students from the Venango Technology Center welding technology class, including Ben Middleton and Ty Barker, both of Oil City High School, placed section markers at Franklin Cemetery last week in time for Memorial Day. The Franklin Cemetery board reached out to the technology center about the possibility of students making signs to replace badly weathered signs that marked the sections at the cemetery on Rocky Grove Avenue. The machine tool technology students started milling them early this spring. Then the welding technology students welded the bolts onto the back to connect them to the posts. They were moved to the auto body repair technology area to be painted. Technology center teachers involved in the project were Robert Moore, Travis Crate and Darrin Burt. Franklin Cemetery board member Rod Richards oversaw the installation of the signs. Materials and items were donated by Witherup Fabrication and Erection, Franklin Industries, Hovis Auto and Herb Barker.
