Tax-aide program to be offered in Venango County

Venango County SVP in conjunction with the AARP Tax-Aide Program will be offering free tax preparation services. IRS trained and certified volunteer tax counselors help individuals prepare basic tax forms and standard schedules as well as property tax/rent rebate forms from the following locations:

– First Baptist Church, Franklin – 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, Feb. 1 to April 13 with the exception of Good Friday, March 30. Individuals should arrive no later than 2 p.m.

– Cranberry Place at Cranberry Mall – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Feb. 6 to April 11. Individuals should arrive no later than 2 p.m.

– Titusville Active Aging -by appointment only, 827-9134

Trained volunteers will prepare federal and state income tax and property tax/ rent rebate forms. Free electronic filing will be provided at each location.

Taxpayers seeking assistance should take all income statements for 2017. This includes W2 forms, Interest 1099 forms, Dividend 1099 forms, Miscellaneous 1099 forms, Rent or Royalty 1099 forms and Social Security statements for 2017. Filers should also take their 2016 tax return. Those filling out property tax rebates should take their property taxes marked “paid” for 2017.

Taxpayers seeking assistance must show photo ID and their Social Security card.
