Taste of Talent participant suffers injuries in crash

Thoughts and prayers went out Wednesday night in Franklin to a city resident who was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash and flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Hagan Cook, 19, suffered serious injuries in the accident Tuesday afternoon on Route 322 in Wayne Township, Crawford County.

The crash involved Cook’s 2012 Subaru Legacy, a FedEx tractor-trailer and a 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser, Meadville state police said.

The thoughts and prayers for Cook, a participant in the Taste of Talent vocal competition, were passed along during Wednesday’s show in Franklin.

“We all feel so bad. It’s moments like this I wish I had a magic wand,” said Ronnie Beith, Franklin’s Events coordinator.

The driver of the FedEx vehicle, 57-year-old Richard Larson, also of Franklin, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Meadville Medical Center for precautionary reasons, police said.

The third driver, whose name has not yet been released, wasn’t hurt, according to police.

Police said the accident occurred at about 3 p.m. Tuesday on Route 322 near County Line Road when Cook’s vehicle collided with the tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer then traveled into the opposite lane of traffic and struck the FJ Cruiser.

Prior to Wednesday’s show, Beith said she and the competition’s judges would acknowledge the accident, and Cook would “definitely be part of our show.”

“Thoughts are with him and the family, and we’re just praying for a recovery as quick and complete as possible,” Beith said.
