Sugarcreek Council will get first look at budget

Sugarcreek Borough Council members will get their first look at the borough’s proposed 2018 budget during Wednesday’s council meeting.

Borough administrator Joe Sporer will present the spending plan, and then council members can ask for changes and revisions if desired.

Once the proposed budget is approved by council, the budget will be available for public inspection for 30 days at the borough office, Sporer said.

At the end of the 30-day period, council will approve the advertisement of a tax ordinance at the panel’s Dec. 6 meeting. The tax ordinance will then be adopted and become law, Sporer said.

“I don’t see any bumps in the road,” Sporer said about the 2018 budget. “The only wild card is the health insurance plan, but the plan is minimal for that. There are too many uncertain things in that department,” Sporer said.

Meanwhile, Sporer said he is “very satisfied” with the 2017 budget because it is “within percentage.”

“We’ve had a reasonably uneventful year (financially),” Sporer said.
