St. Patrick to begin weekend Masses with limitations

From staff reports

St. Patrick Church in Franklin will begin its regular weekend Masses at 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The following changes will be in effect:

— All parishioners are asked to enter through the center doors and use the sanitizer that is provided before Mass begins. The handicap ramp is accessible for those needing to use it.

— There will be limited seating available on a first come, first serve basis. The Erie Diocese has directed that only one of every three pews may be used for seating.

— A family that has been living together during the coronavirus crisis may sit together as a family. Social distance seating will be in effect for those who come to Mass by themselves.

— Masks must be worn at all times when parishioners are in the church, except for the reception of the Holy Eucharist. Anyone who doesn’t come with a mask won’t be permitted to enter the church.

The diocese has given a dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass and has said that people who are ill or in a “high risk” category and susceptible to the virus should consider not attending Mass.

The sacrament of reconciliation will also return to its regularly scheduled time of 3 to 4:15 p.m. Saturday. Social distancing while waiting in line is expected.

St. Patrick is asking for patience from parishioners as adjustments may have to be made.
