Search for man missing since August continues

Michael Ray Rice

From staff reports

Franklin state police conducted a large search on Bradleytown Road in Plum Township on Tuesday in a continuing effort to locate a Venango County man who has been missing since August.

Michael Ray Rice, 46, was last seen at his parents’ home around 8 p.m. Aug. 17.

Police said the investigation has revealed Rice walked or received a ride from an unknown person to an unknown location. He has a recent history of medical issues, including a stomach ulcer that causes him pain, police said.

Rice is believed to have left during the night without his cellphone, wallet or medications.

Police said there are no known signs of foul play and that Rice has been known to spend a lot of time in Crawford County.

Meadville state police, Venango County sheriff’s deputies and the Slippery Rock Township Volunteer Fire Department have been assisting in the search.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Rice to call them at (814) 676-6596.
