Joe Deal started donning a Santa suit a couple of years ago during December to attract a little more attention and give some holiday spirit to the passing motorists who honk their horns in support of the troops on Friday afternoons at the corner of Petroleum and Front streets in Oil City. Deal has been waving his hand and flag to cars from 4 to 5 p.m. on Fridays since about 2003 as he and other dedicated veterans keep the troops deployed all over the world in their thoughts.
