Sander’s Market eliminating round-the-clock hours

From staff reports

The owners of Sander’s Market in Franklin confirmed Monday that the store will no longer be operating 24 hours a day.

“It’s a cost saving measure,” said owner Jake Sander. “We’re hardly doing any business (at night) but we know one of the employers there gets out at 11 so we decided to stay open until midnight.”

The store’s new hours will be 6 a.m. to midnight every day and will begin when the store closes at midnight on Saturday.

Employee numbers will “absolutely not” be affected by the store’s shorter hours, said Rod Confer, another owner.

Despite the cutback, Sander said the store is doing well.

“(Franklin has) been great for us so far. We’ve already done some minor improvements,” he said.

Sander explained that most of these improvements have been “behind the scenes” such as work to the store’s infrastructure and $40,000 to $50,000 in upgrades to the refrigeration department.

“We’ve made some pretty big strides there,” Sander said.
