Active and retired Pennsylvania State Police troopers from the Franklin, Erie, Corry and Meadville barracks, as well as additional troopers from Pittsburgh, gathered Saturday for a 3-mile formation run at the Samuel Justus Bike Trail to honor trooper Paul Richey.

Richey was killed in the line of duty in January 2010 while working as a trooper with Franklin state police.

This year’s run was lead by Richey’s son, Connor, a recent graduate of Bellefonte High School. Richey’s daughter, Catherine, also gathered with family and friends to honor her father.

Richey’s widow, Carrie Richey-Hovis, and his parents, Sam and Nancy Richey, attended to give honor and appreciation to the troopers and families in attendance.

Also attending were Carrie’s parents, Rich and Candy Cornell, and Jim Breth, a local agent with Pennsylvanin Probation and Parole.

Cadence was conducted by retired state trooper Craig Amos.
