Rockdale Road bridge plans to be displayed

From staff reports

The public will be able to view plans for bridge replacement project on Rockdale Road in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, beginning Monday, July 31, according to PennDOT.

The 15-foot-long bridge carries Rockdale Road over the north fork of Scrubgrass Creek and is located about one-quarter mile south of the intersection with Route 208.

The bridge is to be replaced with a concrete box culvert and construction is expected to take place during the summer of 2018.

Plans for the project will be on display from Monday, July 31, to Monday, Aug. 14, at the Scrubgrass Township Building, 4976 Emlenton-Clintonville Road, Emlenton.

Those wishing to view the plans should make an appointment by contacting Bob Aiken at (814) 758-8305 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to make an appointment to view the plans display.

A detour is expected to be in place throughout the duration of the construction.

The existing bridge was built in 1965 and it is used by about 230 vehicles a day, on average.

The purpose of the display is to introduce the project and to receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project, PennDOT said. The display is set up to also receive any public input regarding historic or archaeological sites in the area that could be affected by the project, as required by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
