Red Cross offers free smoke alarms, installation

From staff reports

The American Red Cross will canvass Venango, Clarion and Armstrong counties to install free smoke alarms and make homes safer as the Red Cross kicks off “Sound the Alarm” at Allegheny-Clarion Elementary School on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

Volunteers and partners will visit neighborhoods by appointment throughout the three-county area to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms and help families create fire-escape plans.

Services are free and available to everyone. However, to have an alarm installed, residents must call (814) 271-3060 to schedule an appointment. Callers must include their name, address and telephone number.

Community installations are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
