Ready for homes

Clarion PAWS, the Venango County Humane Society and others have several animals available for adoption. Precious Paws Animal Rescue is working to help a dog get surgery. Several events are also planned.

Little loves

Clarion PAWS in Shippenville has youngsters Sky, Chiclet and Ike available for adoption.

Sky

Sky

“Sky is a crazy girl. Her appearance matches her personality. She absolutely loves to play,” the shelter posted on its Facebook page. “She can turn anything into a toy. She can be slightly moody as she was a lone kitten until old enough to eat on her own. The other kittens have been teaching her manners so she is ready for a home, preferably with playful siblings.”

Chiclet

Chiclet

“Chiclet is a very outgoing little kitten. He is also one of the youngest kittens of this bunch,” the rescue posted. “He loves his wet food treat and is often yelling for us to finish cleaning and hold him.”

Ike

Ike

“Ike is full of love. Being one of the smallest kittens doesn’t stop him. He loves to be cuddled and already has a giant purr engine. He is going to grow up to be a big lovable guy,” the rescue said in a Facebook post.

Clarion PAWS is located at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, Clarion River Hill, between Scrap Happy and Clarion Electric. The adoption center is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

The center is closed Fridays and Sundays. More information is available online at www.clarionpaws.org, the group’s Facebook page or by calling (814) 229-1231.

Waiting list

The Venango County Humane Society in Seneca is at full capacity with cats and kittens and has no available cages. The shelter is not accepting cats or kittens at this time.

People who have cats or kittens they need to surrender, should call the shelter at (814) 677-4040 first to be placed on its waiting list. People will be called when cages become available.

Meanwhile, the shelter has canines Red and Hunter available for adoption.

Red

Red

Red, an American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix, is a 2- to 3-year-old spayed female. She has a short red coat and brown eyes.

“Her previous owner tells us that Red is lovable and gets along with kids but hasn’t been around other dogs or cats. Shy at first, Red soon warms up to you and is playful and affectionate,” the shelter said in a Petfinder posting.

Hunter

Hunter

Hunter, a lab/shepherd mix, is a 7-year-old neutered male. He has a glossy black coat and dark eyes.

“Hunter is house trained and walks well on a leash. His previous owner tells us he is good with kids, five and older. Hunter is also good with dogs, but he’s never been around cats,” the shelter said in a Petfinder listing.

“He’ll need a daily walk on leash, preferably in the cool hours of the early morning or late evening while the heat of the summer is upon us,” the shelter said in a Petfinder posting.

In other news, according to the shelter’s Facebook pages, senior canine couple Teddy and Buddy found a happy home.

The shelters hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through August.

The humane society is located at 286 S. Main St., Seneca. More information on the Venango County Humane Society is available by calling (814) 677-4040.

They’re a team

Precious Paws Animal Rescue in Franklin has Tanger and Crosby available for adoption.

TangerandCrosby

Tanger and Crosby

Christy Fackler posted on the group’s Facebook page about her foster kittens Tanger and Crosby.

“They are neutered and have had their shots. These boys are very lovable… they like to sleep on laps and be petted,” Fackler posted.

Help Tank

Meanwhile, Theresa Weldon asked for people to give to the group’s Oscar fund to help Tank, an American bulldog mix who needs surgery.

Tank came into SNYP to get neutered earlier this week.

“He’s an absolute love bug. He let us do anything we needed to in order to examine him properly. When the vet did the exam, we could tell his eyes are suffering severe entropian,” Weldon posted. “Entropian is where the eye lids turn into the eyeball and causes irritation. Entropian is very painful. We sent him with some eye ointment and pain meds.”

“The owner is unable to afford his treatment so we are struggling to cover Tank under the Oscar Fund before his vision is affected,” Weldon pleaded.

She posted that Tank has an appointment at Franklin Animal Clinic. “Can you spare $10 or $20 for Tank?” Weldon posted.

People can donate through PayPal at AdoptPreciousPaws@gmail.com or direct donate Franklin Animal Clinic Precious Paws account or mail a check to P.O. Box 784, Franklin, PA 16323.

IHAD event set for Aug. 19

Tri-County Animal Rescue will host its fifth annual International Homeless Animals’ Day celebration from 3 p.m. to dusk Saturday, Aug. 19, in Veteran’s Memorial Park across from Clarion County courthouse.

Festivities include a Chinese auction with many raffles, games for kids, a pet parade, music, dog massage and vendors. There will also be a blessing of the animals at 7 p.m.

Various speakers are lined up throughout the day who will talk about animal care, humane issues and puppy mills, to name of few of the subjects.

The rescue will also honor its Rescue of the Year, Lifetime Achievement award and Animal Advocate award winners.

There will be a special raffle of a quilt that was handmade and donated by a generous supporter. Tickets cost $2 and are on sale at the center, through any volunteer, at events during the summer and throughout the day at IHAD. A maximum of 1,000 tickets are available. The drawing will take place at IHAD. The winner need not be present, but the quilt must be picked up in person.

The lighting of the luminaries brings the day to a close in a beautiful tribute to our beloved pets who have passed to the Rainbow Bridge.

Adoptable animals

Meanwhile, the rescue has little gal Scarlet and canine Taggert up for adoption.

Scarlet

Scarlet

“Tag is a petite German Shepherd who came to us as a stray,” the rescue posted in a Petfinder listing. “His estimated age is 7 years old. When he arrived, Tag was a bit rumpled and frayed around the edges due to a flea allergy that made him lose quite a bit of hair along his back and rump,” the posting continued.

Taggart

Taggert

“But now that he is getting regular flea prevention and better nutrition he has some peach fuzz starting to fill in the bald spots … given time his coat will grow back, and Tag will be every bit as handsome on the outside as he is on the inside,” the rescue posted.
