The Catholic Diocese of Erie announced Friday that former Oil City resident David Poulson, who had served as a priest in Fryburg, has been removed from the clerical state.
Earlier this year, Poulson was sentenced to two and a half to 14 years in state prison for his repeated sexual assaults against one boy and the attempted assault of another boy during his time with the diocese.
The diocese said Poulson is forbidden to function as a priest in the Catholic Church, should no longer present himself as a priest and not be admitted as a priest in the celebration of the sacraments.
