Police have suspect in death of Sharon teen

Mercer state police have identified DaShawn Watkins, a 29-year-old Sharon resident, as a suspect in the homicide of 14-year-old Paul A. Likens Jr., whose dismembered remains were discovered near Shenango Lake. Likens was reported missing on June 25, and evidence indicated he was last seen on June 22. Surveillance footage linked Watkins to the crime, showing him struggling with a large duffle bag and carrying multiple bags from his apartment. Blood evidence was found in his apartment. Watkins has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 17. Authorities urge anyone with information about Likens’ disappearance to contact state police.
