Police charge Cooksburg couple with heroin possession

A Cooksburg couple has been charged with possession of heroin with intent to deliver and endangering the welfare of a child after police raided their Monroe Township hotel room.

Police said a handgun also was discovered at the scene.

Dylan James Walker, 26, and Chelsea Lynn Gearhart-Walker, 23, are both charged with two counts of manufacture, delivery or possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child following an incident April 7 at a Park Inn hotel room in Monroe Township.

Court documents say officers from the Clarion County Narcotics Enforcement Team and the state police vice unit obtained a search warrant of the hotel room after establishing probable cause for the search.

District judge Timothy Schill approved the search warrant based on information provided by Clarion County chief detective and CNET lead investigator William H. Peck IV.

Peck and state police arrived at the hotel room, knocked on the door and “loudly announced” their presence.

Police said the Walkers wouldn’t immediately open the door and forced entry was made into the room. Police said a 4-year-old child was in the room with the Walkers.

Police searched the room and seized $2,000 in cash, heroin and a semi-automatic pistol.

The Walkers were arrested and the child was placed in protective custody.
