The summer playground program in Venango County has expanded its locations to include the 11th Street playground in Franklin and the Morrison Park playground in Seneca.

This program, which is in its 39th year, invites children to play at certain local playgrounds from June 6 to July 15. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Qualified staff members will be present at participating playgrounds. Children can play games, make crafts and participate in contests at no cost.

The Oil City YWCA hosts the non-profit program, and it is funded entirely by the Samuel Justus Charitable Trust which gives funding to “projects related to youth, disabled, community arts, conservation and ecology, or sports and camps.”

The program’s 15 employees expect to provide services to between 500 and 600 children this summer.

Additional locations are Harriott Avenue Land of Laughter, Hasson Park, Innis Street and Seventh Street Elementary, all in Oil City, and a site in Rocky Grove.
