Pennies from Heaven taking Christmas applications

Pennies From Heaven, a charity that helps provide items for children of low-income working families, is taking applications for its Christmas program at the Community Action office on Sheridan Road in Clarion.

Parents or guardians who are either working or students may qualify for the program.

Interested families can call (814) 226-4785 to register. Distribution day will be Dec. 11.

Those who qualify for help will be mailed a postcard notifying them of their time to arrive.

“Parents should bring their post card and a pay stub to the distribution day,” said Renee Vowinckel, president of the organization. “We set up tables with all the gifts on distribution day so it’s as close to shopping as possible.”

Pennies From Heaven provides donations blankets, socks, underwear, hats, gloves, books, coloring books, crayons, puzzles, toys, games and stuffed animals. The program also provides wrapping paper and tape for those participating.

The program provides gifts for children ages birth to 13.

People interested in donating can send a monetary gift to Pennies From Heaven, P.O. Box 222, Clarion, 16214.

Residents can also donate items by dropping them off at any of the participating businesses.
