Pair waive hearings in case involving explosive devices

From staff reports

Two Sugarcreek residents charged in a case in which police said explosive devices were found waived their preliminary hearings on Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Kassidy Clark, 25, and Sean Roxberry, 23, are each charged with felony counts of endangering the welfare of children-parent/guardian/other commits offense and risking catastrophe; two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance; and misdemeanor counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from a search performed Dec. 10 by Sugarcreek police at Clark and Roxberry’s Crestview Drive apartment, where two explosive devices – described by Sugarcreek police Chief Bob Wenner as bombs – a bottle of liquid morphine, a bag with cocaine residue and multiple items of drug paraphernalia were seized.

All items, police said, were “feet” away from Clark’s 1-year-old child.

One of the devices, police said, exploded when state police bomb squad members tried to render it inoperable and left a “considerable” crater in its wake. No one was injured in the explosion.

Police said they are investigating whether these devices are related to a similar device found in Franklin on Dec. 6.

Police said that device was found in the Arbor Circle apartment of Tyler Howard, 22, who is set to appear in Central Court on Jan. 8 on charges stemming from that incident.
