Organizers cancel Taste of Franklin

From staff reports

Taste of Franklin organizers announced Friday the event has been canceled this year due to coronavirus concerns.

Jessica Carroll, administrator of the Franklin Retail & Business Association which coordinates Taste of Franklin with the Franklin Fine Arts Council, said the decision to cancel was made “for the health and safety of our community.”

The event had been scheduled Sunday, Aug. 2, in Fountain Park.

Carroll said that organizers and major sponsors Mike and Joyce Hughes are asking anyone who had planned to attend Taste of Franklin to “spend the weekend supporting the local restaurants and shops.”

Meanwhile, Franklin’s Taste of Talent competition, which is being live streamed this year, is scheduled to continue at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Additional Taste of Talent performances are planned Wednesday, July 29, and Saturday, Aug. 1.
