Oil City schedules tire recycling collection Friday

From staff reports

The City of Oil City has scheduled a tire recycling collection for city residents from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the city garage on Regan Drive in Siverly.

Only non-commercial, rimless tires will be accepted.

There will be no charge for a resident’s first eight tires and additional tires will be accepted at $2 each. The fee will be collected in exact cash only, and proof of Oil City residency is required.

In addition, the city will have dumpsters in place for yard clutter that the garbage company will not collect at curbside. Those materials include scrap metals and construction material such as lumber, plaster board and the like from small construction projects.

Residents will not be able to deposit household hazardous chemicals such as motor oil, paint, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs.

Additional information is available by calling the city utility office at 678-3002.

Residents taking items to the collection site must show proof of Oil City residency.

The collection is open to residential customers only and is not available for commercial dropoffs.
