Oil City man facing sexual assault, corruption charges

An Oil City man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a juvenile girl and furnished alcohol to minors.

A criminal complaint filed through district judge Andrew Fish’s office said that between 10 p.m. Sept. 9 and 5 a.m. Sept. 10, in Oil City, K’Hane Aquemini Bishop Mabin, 18, engaged in a course of misconduct involving several juveniles.

Mabin attended a party with a boy the night of Sept. 9, where he procured alcohol and stowed the beverages in his backpack, the complaint said.

Mabin then arranged via text message to meet a juvenile girl at her home, and he and the boy left the party, the complaint said.

At the girl’s home, Mabin provided alcoholic beverages to the two juveniles, in addition to another juvenile girl present, the complaint said. The girl who lived at the home said Mabin eventually got into bed with her, and the two had consensual sex, the complaint said.

The grandmother of the girl told police she checked on her granddaughter at one point and saw Mabin roll off the girl’s bed onto the floor, the complaint said. The woman said she observed Mabin partially dressed, and open beer cans were strewn about the room, the complaint said.

Police spoke with another boy who had indicated to having communications with Mabin during the night of the events and afterward, the complaint said.

The boy said he had no direct knowledge of any sexual acts occurring between Mabin and the girl, but Mabin had offered to compensate him to say nothing had occurred between the two, the complaint said.

Mabin is facing felony counts of statutory sexual assault-4 to 8 years older and corruption of minors-defendant age 18 or above. He is also facing misdemeanor counts of indecent assault-person less than 16 years of age, three counts of corruption of minors and three counts of sell/furnish liquor etc. to minor, in addition to a summary count of purchase alcoholic beverage by a minor.

He was arraigned before Fish and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for Wednesday in Central Court.
