Ohio woman charged with theft of $110,000

A Warren, Ohio, woman who was charged with theft after police said she stole $110,000 from the trust of her deceased brother-in-law who had lived in Oil City, waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Diana Griffith, 54, now faces trial on three felony counts including theft by unlawful taking, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds and access device fraud.

Oil City police said Griffith, who was the executrix for the estate of James L. Griffith after his death in August 2014, removed the money in small increments between August 2014 and December 2015 from places in Venango County and in the area of where she lives in Ohio.

An investigation was conducted by Oil City police and Griffith was arrested on April 6, before she was arriagned on the charges and then eventually released on $110,000 unsecured bail.
