Ohio woman accused of taking vehicle, fleeing waives hearing

From staff reports

An Ohio woman accused of stealing a vehicle from the Country Fair on Oil City’s North Side in November waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Nicole Waggoner, 34, of Barberton, Ohio, was charged with felony counts of conspiracy-theft by unlawful taking and theft by unlawful taking, in addition to misdemeanor counts of conspiracy-receiving stolen property, receiving stolen property, conspiracy-unauthorized use of motor vehicle and unauthorized use of motor vehicle. She was also charged with a summary count of driving with a suspended license.

A criminal complaint filed through district judge Andrew Fish’s office said that around 6 p.m. Nov. 4, Oil City police were dispatched to Country Fair for a report of a stolen black Dodge Durango.

Police arrived and watched surveillance video footage of Waggoner and 30-year-old Joshua Stuckwish, also of Barberton, Ohio, who were both familiar to officers from an incident earlier that day involving a stolen vehicle from Akron, Ohio, the complaint said.

The video showed Waggoner and Stuckwish climb into the vehicle and head out of the parking lot for Plummer Street, the complaint said. The vehicle was later stopped on Liberty Street in Franklin, and the couple fled on foot from police, the complaint said.

Stuckwish was apprehended by police, while Waggoner remained at large, the complaint said.

Waggoner remains in the Venango County jail on $25,000 bail.

Stuckwish waived his preliminary hearing in the case in November and was charged with felony counts of conspiracy-theft by unlawful taking, theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy-receiving stolen property and receiving stolen property. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of conspiracy-unauthorized use of motor vehicle and unauthorized use of motor vehicle.

He remains in the Venango County jail on $150,000 bail.
