Odds and ends

Precious Paws Animal Rescue in Franklin and the Venango County Humane Society in Seneca are helping pet owners get into the Halloween “spirit.” Paying for some parking at Applefest may yield some “pawsitive” results. And Clarion PAWS has a cute kitty ready for a forever home.

Hunting for a home

Hunter was the lone survivor of his litter so he wasn’t quite sure how to be a kitten, Clarion PAWS posted earlier this week on its Facebook page.

“Now that he is a little older and the other kittens taught him how to be a kitten he is ready for a furrever family. This sweet boy has lots of love to give, when he isn’t trying to convince you to play that is,” the rescue said.

The center also posted about its need for Purina Kitten Chow (the yellow bag).

“We currently have over 20 kittens under 6 months old at The PAWS house…that’s a lot of little growing fur balls to feed,” it said.

Clarion PAWS is located at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, Clarion River Hill, between Scrap Happy and Clarion Electric. The adoption center is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The center is closed Fridays and Sundays.

More information is available online at www.clarionpaws.org, the group’s Facebook page or by calling (814) 229-1231.

Parking for ‘pawsitive’ causes

Two Franklin businesses have “lent” their parking lots to the Venango County Humane Society and Safehaven Small Breed Rescue to help them raise funds.

The Venango County Humane Society lot for Applefest has a $5 charge and is Saturday and Sunday at the Northwest Savings Bank and Friday through Sunday at the Buffalo Street Lanes, formerly Masterson’s Bowling. The Humane Society will also have a tent that will be located near Elk Street in the nonprofit row.

Safehaven’s lot is the Galaxy Federal Credit Union in Franklin and will be held Saturday and Sunday. The charge is $5 a car.

Curbing her enthusiasm

Stella

Leah Anson posted about Stella on Precious Paws Animal Rescue’s Facebook page.

“Sweet Stella is still looking for her forever home. Her training is coming along well,” Anson said.
“She just finds it hard to contain her enthusiasm – she LOVES people,” she added.

Anson recommended that Stella not be place in a home with smaller children or cats, just to be safe.

“She had a high prey drive (which I’m working on),” Anson posted. “She loves to play and run around. Once she settles down after her initial greeting, she really just wants to sit beside you and get belly rubs.”
