OCHS team wins Venango Envirothon

A team of students from Oil City High School won first place in the Venango Envirothon.

The competition was held Tuesday at the Nature Lodge of Two Mile Run Park.

The Envirothon competition is an academic event that tests knowledge of local high school students in the categories of aquatics, forestry, soil conservation and a current event issues topic that changes every year.

This year’s issue was “Invasive Species.”

Students made up 13 teams. Cranberry, Oil City and Rocky Grove high schools were represented.

The second place team, called “Hardwood,” was from Cranberry High School. Third place went to “PHD” from Oil City.
