OC students participate in Jump Rope For Heart program

Oil City elementary school students (from left) Jake Anthony, Aubrey Deemer and Sierra Duncan raised the most funds in the Jensin Potts Memorial Jump Rope for Heart event held March 5. Duncan from Smedley raised $1,015; Deemer from Seventh Street raised $630; and Anthony from Hasson raised $190.

The three were among students from Smedley, Seventh Street and Hasson elementary Schools in Oil City who participated in the Jump Rope for Heart program. The students raised more than $12, 439.15 – $1,908 from Hasson; $4,729 from Seventh Street; and $5,802.15 from Smedley – for the American Heart Association.

Brother and sister team Avery and James VanWormer from Smedley raised $1,350 combined and brother and sister team Kaylee and Aadan Hibbard from Seventh Street and Smedley raised $575 combined.

Jump Rope For Heart is a program that promotes physical activity and heart health through jumping rope. It is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and SHAPE America-Society of Health and Physical Educators.
