OC police chief warns of phone scam

From staff reports

Oil City Police Chief Bob Wenner would like to warn citizens of an ongoing phone scam.

Chief Wenner said people are receiving phone calls and are being told there are active warrants for their arrest.

Wenner said people are being told to make payment arrangements for the warrant or they will be arrested.

Wenner said the police department wanted to warn people about providing any unknown persons with their confidential information including name, date of birth, social security number or any type of banking or credit card information.

Anyone receiving these calls are asked to contact their local police department for further assistance.
