OC man will be ordained to Episcopal priesthood

Mark Elliston, a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City, will be ordained to the priesthood during a ceremony Saturday in his home church.

The ordination will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

A reception will follow in Deacon Kapp Hall in the church social hall. Both the ordination and reception are open to the public.

The Right Rev. Sean Rowe, bishop of the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania and former priest at St. John Church in Franklin, will officiate.

The homily will be preached by Father Tim Dyer, pastor of the Warren and Linesville Episcopal churches. Deacons will be Gail Winslow of Bradford, Dave Betz of St. John Church in Franklin and Dorothy Konyha of St. Paul in Erie.

Music will be provided by the choir from St. James Episcopal Church in Titusville.

Elliston, a 1974 graduate of Oil City High School, has four children and five grandchildren. He completed courses in colleges and seminaries and was ordained a deacon a year ago.

He works as an online antiques dealer.

Following his ordination, Elliston will be serving Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City.
