OC Main Street program updates business guide

From staff reports

The Oil City Main Street Program has issued an updated version of its business resource guide, “Opportunity: Oil City.”

Main Street manager Kathy Bailey said the guide is meant to be a resource for existing business owners in town as well as for those who are interested in opening a new business.

The information in the guide was recently updated by Main Street’s economic vitality committee, Bailey said.

The guide includes tips for planning or improving a business, a checklist for city permits and other approvals, financial incentives and lending sources, an annual list of downtown events and helpful contact information. It also includes information on city procedures.

“A lot of people don’t know where to get parking permits and services,” Bailey said. The guide, she said, directs people to which city offices are appropriate to meet their needs.

The guide can be accessed at www.oilcitymainstreet.org and can be found at City Hall, the Oil City Library and at the Main Street Program office at 217 Elm St.
