No one injured in fire at Franklin residence

A fire broke out at 5:15 p.m. in the basement of a residence at 312 Sixth St. in Franklin on Wednesday. The Franklin Fire Department arrived to find smoke and flames visible from the exterior. Firefighters quickly entered through an open basement garage door and extinguished the fire within minutes. They ensured the fire was completely out and ventilated the building to remove smoke. The two apartments in the structure suffered only smoke damage, while the basement sustained smoke, heat, and water damage, with losses estimated at $5,000. The fire has been ruled accidental in nature, and the scene was cleared at about 6:20 p.m.
