More area nonprofits announce Week of Giving participation

From staff reports

Tionesta Health Center and Clarion County SAFE are among the local nonprofit organizations that will take part in the 2021 Bridge Builders Community Foundations Week of Giving fundraising campaign being held next week.

Tionesta Health Center, which is affiliated with Titusville Area Hospital, opened in April 2019 and has been a vital service to area residents, serving on the forefront of vaccine delivery to the Tionesta community and hosting several community health clinics.

Money raised through the Week of Giving campaign will be used to purchase new equipment and make minor repairs to the Tionesta building.

Bridge Builders will match a portion of the donations received through the Week of Giving event.

People who want to make donations can do so by visiting Bridge Builders at bbcfgives.org between 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, and 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 18.

Donations also may be sent directly to Titusville Area Hospital at 406 W. Oak St., Titusville, 16354. Checks should be made payable to Bridge Builders Community Foundations and “Tionesta Health Center” should be added to the memo line of the check.

Clarion County SAFE

Clarion County Stop Abuse for Everyone is a United Way agency that provides services for people affected by domestic or dating violence. These services include crisis counseling, information and referrals, emergency arrangements and safety planning.

Shelter also is provided for victims and their children who are in immediate danger.

SAFE staff and volunteers provide advocacy accompaniment in dealing with the legal process and other community resources. They also provide educational events for the community and do presentations at schools and for other groups.

Housing is made available through the SAFE program for homeless women and their children with or without domestic violence issues.

“For many of these services, SAFE is required to secure matching funds, so community support is essential and very much appreciated,” said executive director Emily Kitchen.

For several years, SAFE has held a fundraising St. Patrick’s Day dance but that event has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus so the agency is participating in the Bridge Builders fundraising campaign in place of the dance, Kitchen said.

Donations of a minimum of $25 for Clarion County SAFE can be made at bbcfgives.org during the Week of Giving campaign from 8 a.m. March 16 through 11:59 p.m. March 18.
