Memorial Day ceremonies and parade set in Franklin

Franklin’s annual Memorial Day ceremonies and parade will be held Monday, May 28.

The first ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on the 13th Street Bridge and will be followed by a second ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at Franklin Cemetery.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at 13th and Chestnut streets before heading to Liberty Street and ending at South Park. The South Park ceremony at the bandstand will begin at 11 a.m.

The Catholic War Veterans will also hold a memorial service at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick Cemetery.

Here is the parade line-up:

First Division – 13th Street between Chestnut and Railroad streets: Franklin police, V.E.T.S. Honor Guard, grand marshal, Franklin Silver Cornet Band, Franklin mayor and council, State Rep. R. Lee James, VFW Post 1835 auxiliary

Second Division – Railroad Street between 13th and 12th streets: Catholic War Veterans, Elks Lodge 110, Daughters of the American Revolution, Cub Scout Pack 37, Starlite Express, Venango County Sheriff’s Office

Third Division – 12th Street between Railroad and Chestnut streets: Community Ambulance Service, Cooperstown Athletic Association, Sherry Shawgo Real Estate, Venango County Tea Party Patriots, Pennsylvania Gun Owners Association

Fourth Division – 12th Street between Chestnut and Buffalo streets: Sugarcreek Police, Polk Fire & Rescue, Sandycreek Volunteer Fire Department

All non-pre-registered entries will be assigned a position in the parade the day of the parade.
