Marienville woman dies in crash

From staff reports

A Marienville woman was killed in a crash early Thursday morning in Forest County, Marienville state police said.

The woman, 20-year-old Taylor Ann Barnett, was a passenger in a 2009 Subaru Legacy driven by 20-year-old Brandon Walters, of Tionesta, that was traveling west on Guitonville Road in Jenks Township at 1:30 a.m., according to police.

The vehicle went off the south berm and struck a tree, then traveled an additional 35 feet before hitting another tree and overturning, police said.

Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a report from Forest County Coroner Norman J. Wimer.

An autopsy is scheduled this morning.

The injuries to Walters, who was found wandering on the road two hours later by a passer-by who reported the incident, are not believed to be life-threatening, according to the coroner’s report. Walters was transported to a hospital by helicopter.

Marienville Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
