Man who jumped out of cruiser arrested on several charges

A weekend melee in Oil City that ended with a police chase in Franklin resulted in the filing of numerous charges against a man.

Oil City police went to 123 Wyllis St. about 5:30 p.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. Once there, officers said they saw Jonathan Amon following a woman and a man and yelling at them.

Officers arrested Amon and charged him with disorderly conduct. This was the third incident involving the man at that address in a 30-hour period, police said.

Amon was arraigned before district judge Patrick E. Lowrey and bond was set at $20,000.

On the way to the Venango County jail, Amon became agitated and tore his clothes and smeared fecal matter on himself, police said. He managed to smash a rear window out of a police cruiser while on his way to the jail, according to officers.

Amon then jumped out the window of the police cruiser and ran down Otter Street to 11th St. in Franklin naked and handcuffed, police said. Officers gave chase and were able to recapture Amon.

Amon was taken to UPMC Northwest for cuts he got while jumping out the window and was then taken to the jail.

He was charged additionally with escape, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and indecent exposure, police said.
