Man facing several charges after Clarion Co. incidents

A Butler man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted his ex-wife Friday before ramming her vehicle along Route 68 in Clarion County.

Clarion state police said 31-year-old Steven Bowser choked his ex-wife and threw her onto a bed at a home on Old Town Road about 7:30 p.m. Friday. Police said there was an active protection from abuse order between the two.

About an hour later, Bowser was traveling on Route 68 with Michael Sheffer when he saw his ex-wife’s vehicle headed west on the roadway, police said.

Bowser made a U-turn, chased the vehicle and pushed it 250 feet on the roadway after ramming into the back of it, police said.

A physical altercation ensued between Bowser and a passenger in the other vehicle, but Bowser fled the scene with Sheffer when police were called, police said.

At 9:47 p.m., Bowser, Sheffer and another man went to Bowser’s ex-wife’s home on Old Town Road, where Sheffer broke the windshield of a white Mustang, police said.

Police were contacted by Bowser’s ex-wife and Bowser was taken into custody, but Sheffer fled on foot, police said.

Bowser was arraigned before district judge Amy Long Turk for a protection from abuse violation.

He was placed in the Clarion County jail on $25,000 bail.

Charges are pending against Bowser and Sheffer, police said.
